Clients of The Memphis & Shelby Co. Film and Television Commission are completely exempt from both city and county hotel/motel taxes — after 30 days’ consecutive occupancy of the same hotel/motel room. Furthermore, Tennessee’s Department of Revenue offers. The Tennessee Film and Music Commission, offers qualified out-of-state production companies a complete refund of Tennessee’s Sales and Use Tax on goods and services (9.25%). To qualify for the refund, filmmakers must spend at least $500,000 in one calendar year on one production and file for the refund within six (6) months from December 31 of the year in which the production ended.
